RULES FOR THE FUNCTIONING OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED AT THE FLORENCE INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION CHAMBER (FIMC)

 

1)      THE COMMITTEE

The Florence International Mediation Chamber (FIMC) at the Florence Chamber of Commerce has the discretion to appoint an advisory scientific committee.

 

2)      COMPOSITION

The committee is composed of seven members, appointed by the FIMC Manager, selected from among personalities of proven experience in the sector of International disputes resolution in civil and commercial field.

 

3)      FUNCTIONS

The committee’s task is to handle and maintain a high level of scientific competence of the FIMC, also through the following activities:

  1. study of issues considered time after time of particular interest and/or topical for the International mediation;
  2. study and research on mediation clauses;
  3. study and research on the regulation of the service;
  4. research of topics and themes to be dealt within conferences, seminars and other publicity events organized by the FIMC or in which the FIMC has to be involved.

In the committee, limited working group can be created for the study of specific issues or projects.

4) SELECT COMMITTEE

In the committee, it is established a sub-committee, composed of three members, with an advisory power vis-à-vis the FIMC for the appointment of the mediators in cases covered by art. 4 of the Regulation.

In such a case, the committee carries out an inquiry on the basis of the acts present on the procedure dossier and, at the result, it will submit to the FIMC a list of maximum three names within the mediator will have to be identified.

At the communication of that list there has to be as an annex a declaration signed by all the commission’s members for the absence of conflict of interest in relation to all the mediators which are indicated.

5) PERIOD IN OFFICE

Each member of the committee remains in office for a period of two years renewable. The office is free of charge.

6) MEETINGS

The committee meets at least twice a year, with manners laid down from time to time in agreement with the Secretary. The FIMC Manager may attend the meetings.

7) SECRETARY

The committee shall be assisted by a Secretary, selected by the FIMC Manager.

The Secretary carries out the following tasks:

  • To convene the meetings of the committee;
  • To take care of communicating with
