Harrie Samaras

Harrie Samaras is a mediator, arbitrator and consultant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She holds a B.S. and an M.S. degree in the life sciences, a J.D. degree, and an LL.M. degree in Patent and Trade Regulation Law. Harrie began her legal career as a staff attorney and law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to working in private practice, Harrie served as Director of Intellectual Property Litigation for a Fortune 100 telecommunications company and as Vice President Intellectual Property, Legal, for a business unit of a multi-national pharmaceutical company.  Since 2002, she has served as a mediator and arbitrator in complex commercial cases (U.S. and international) focusing on intellectual property and contractual disputes involving business and technology issues.  Harrie is the Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators.  She has lectured to law, business and graduate students on the subject of ADR. Harrie is the editor and an author of the book, ADR Advocacy, Strategies, and Practices for Intellectual Property and Technology Cases (Second Edition), published by the ABA-IPL Section.
